The GIANTS’ mission to help educate and enrich the lives of the next generation has taken another major step with the club partnering with XVenture for a revolutionary new schools program.

XVenture, a leading emotional intelligence, resilience and leadership organisation, will partner with the GIANTS from February 2024 to give secondary school students in NSW and the ACT an opportunity to learn under the tutelage of a professional sporting organisation whilst developing essential life skills.

The GIANTS and XVenture Schools Program will equip students with skills aimed at not only improving mental health and wellbeing, but to help increase confidence to better achieve success in education, employment, and life.

In addition to world-class health, wellbeing and nutrition education, students will also learn about types of career opportunities available, as well as given a rare insight into what’s involved in an elite sports organisation, with subjects such as sports marketing and media a part of the curriculum.

Teachers who are given the opportunity to lead and deliver this program in their school will be provided with high-level training and development delivered by the GIANTS and XVenture key staff, as well as direct access to all the resources in the program.

GIANTS CEO David Matthews says the club is thrilled to be part of the initiative.

“Since our inception we’ve always had a great focus on enriching the lives of young people in NSW and the ACT and it’s exciting to take that to another level with this partnership with XVenture,” Mr Matthews said.

“This program will help students develop a range of essential life skills that will not only help them in school, but with life outside of the classroom, with their relationships with friends and family, with their own personal development, and with future employment opportunities.

“We’re hoping a large number of schools join the program and take advantage of the huge benefits the program offers not only to students, but to teachers as well.”

The 20-week program, which includes three lessons per week, is designed to be accessible to any student, with a focus on learning in a fun, team environment while putting into practice key learnings on leadership, teamwork, and general wellbeing.

XVenture founder and CEO Mike Conway is an honorary professor in leadership and emotional intelligence, and a sought-after adviser and mental coach in business, education and elite sport.

The current emotional intelligence and mental agility coach for the Socceroos during their journey to the Qatar World Cup, Conway is excited to partner with the GIANTS to deliver the world-class program to NSW and ACT students.

“When the GIANTS approached me with the idea of turning our existing high schools’ resilience and leadership work into this integrated program as part of a partnership I was thrilled,” Conway said.

“For our team it has always been about supporting and finding opportunities for young people to develop essential skills and we’ve been searching for a great partner such as the GIANTS to realise this opportunity.”

Several NSW schools have already registered to implement the program from early 2024.
