The GIANTS are thrilled to announce that exciting draftee Riley Hamilton has inked a new deal with the club.

Originally out of contract at season’s end, the talented 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal which will see him remain a GIANT until at least the end of the 2027 AFL season.

A proud product of the GIANTS Academy, Hamilton joined the club’s AFL program as a Category B Rookie in the 2025 Rookie Draft after persisting towards his AFL dream after originally being overlooked in 2024 due to an unfortunate ACL injury.

A dynamic hybrid forward capable of impacting both in the air and at ground level, Hamilton was picked up by the club following a string of impressive performances for the GIANTS Academy and the Allies in the National Championships, as well as for the club’s VFL side in 2025.

While yet to make his AFL debut, Hamilton’s talent and potential has been on full display across a brilliant and consistent front half of the season for the club’s VFL side this season.

Showcasing his ability to mark strongly overhead and cause headaches at ground level, Hamilton has kicked multiple goals in eight out of the club’s nine VFL games this season, tallying 19 majors in nine games in a fantastic campaign to date.

The Canberra native’s ability to consistently hit the scoreboard has played a crucial role in the GIANTS’ strong start to the VFL season, with the club sitting in fourth at 6-3 nearing the midway mark of the season.

GIANTS Head of Talent, Adrian Caruso, said it was great to lock away Hamilton for another season

“We’re really happy with Riley’s development and it’s fantastic to have him signed on for next year,” Caruso said.

“After impressing in our Academy he has come into our AFL program with a great hunger to learn and get the best out of himself and it’s really showing with his VFL form across the first half of the year.

“He’s got some really strong traits as a dangerous medium forward and we’re looking forward to seeing where he can take his game as he continues to learn off some elite mentors in our AFL program.”
