The 2026 Smithy’s VFL fixture has been released, with the GIANTS’ VFL side set to play a host of AFL curtain raisers and closers across the season, as well as some exciting fixtures at GIANTS HQ.
As announced last week, the GIANTS VFL side will kickstart its campaign against the Saints at Tom Wills Oval at GIANTS HQ on Saturday, March 21.
The historic season opener will be the first time the GIANTS have ever faced off with a St Kilda standalone VFL side, with the Saints entering the VFL as their own entity this season for the first time since 2000.
For diehard GIANTS fans, the VFL clash against the Saints will take place prior to the AFL clash between the clubs, with fans able to watch the VFL match at GIANTS HQ before making the short trip up the road to ENGIE Stadium to watch the AFL sides do battle shortly after.
The GIANTS will then hit the road in round two for a Friday afternoon clash with the Pies at 12:10pm at Victoria Park on March 27.
After a team and a league bye across the next two rounds, the GIANTS will return to action in round four for a massive clash with the crosstown rivals as they head east to take on the Swans in a huge AFL curtain raiser at the SCG at 3:35pm on Friday, April 17.
In round five the GIANTS will again open the doors at GIANTS HQ where they’ll host the Kangaroos at Tom Wills Oval for an ANZAC weekend clash at 9:30am on Sunday, April 26.
After a trip to the Gold Coast to take on the Suns at People First Stadium in round six, the GIANTS will return home to Tom Wills Oval in round seven as they host the Bombers on Sunday, May 10, again prior to the club’s AFL clash with the Bombers at ENGIE Stadium.
In round eight the GIANTS take on Sandringham at Trevor Barker Oval on Sunday, May 17 before returning to Sydney in round nine for a huge curtain closing clash with the Lions.
The big VFL clash will take place at ENGIE Stadium at 4pm on Sunday, May 24, immediately following the GIANTS’ AFL clash with the back-to-back reigning premiers at 12:30pm at ENGIE Stadium.
A pair of road games come either side of a bye in round 11 as the GIANTS take on the Demons at Casey Fields in round 10 on Sunday, May 31, and the Seagulls at DSV Stadium in round 12 on Saturday, June 13.
The GIANTS VFL side then return home in round 13 for another blockbuster curtain-raiser as they play host to the Blues on Saturday, June 20 at 12:15pm prior to the AFL clash between the sides.
While the full schedule for round 1-13 have been released, only the match-ups for rounds 14-21 have been announced, with the venues and timings of those rounds to be confirmed later in the year.
Other highlights of the GIANTS’ 2026 VFL fixture are a home VFL Sydney Derby with the Swans in round 18, and a historic home clash with the entering Tasmania Devils in the final round of the season.
