The GIANTS are delighted to announce that they have resigned promising youngster Louie Montgomery to their VFL program for season 2026.

Originally from South Australia, Montgomery will don the orange and charcoal once again in 2026 following a standout 2025 debut season at the club playing as both an inside midfielder and as a rebounding defender.

An explosive and well-built utility, Montgomery was one of the club’s best performing VFL players throughout the 2025 season and the club is excited about what he can produce in 2026.

The son of 2004 Port Adelaide premiership player and current GIANTS assistant coach Brett Montgomery, the talented 19-year-old finished the 2025 VFL season averaging 19.1 disposals, 8.3 contested possessions, and three clearances per game, while also kicking eight goals.

Following his strong 2025 campaign, Montgomery will continue to be a train-on for the club’s AFL program for the 2026 season.

GIANTS Head of Talent, Adrian Caruso, was thrilled to have Montgomery return next season.

“Louie had a really strong season as a 19-year-old and we have no doubt he’ll be able to take his game to another level in 2026,” Caruso said.

“He’s a strong and powerful young athlete with a high footy IQ and it’s fantastic that we have the flexibility to play him in a number of positions.

“Continuing as an AFL train-on next season is also really exciting for Louie and there’s no doubt that continuing to train within our AFL program will be hugely beneficial and will give himself the best opportunity to develop and learn our system.”

Montgomery’s signature comes following a pair of key signings for the club’s VFL program in 2026, with former Swan James Bell and former Port Melbourne captain and premiership player Harvey Hooper both becoming GIANTS for season 2026.
