Skipper Toby Greene could return for this week’s must-win clash with the Suns in Canberra.
Greene has missed the last two games with a quad injury and will need to get through this week’s full training schedule in order to prove his readiness to return to Adam Kingsley’s side.
Young defender Harry Oliver didn’t play at either AFL or VFL last week due to a low-grade adductor strain which was detected late last week.
Oliver will increase his running and conditioning work this week, as he aims to be available for selection in two weeks’ time.
Brent Daniels continues to make positive progress in his rehabilitation plan from a calf injury sustained in round 16, while Jack Buckley will continue to build his running program.
Meanwhile, the club has opted not to play Darcy Jones at either AFL or VFL this season.
Despite being medically cleared and having trained fully for consecutive weeks now, the decision was made in conjunction with Jones for him to return to play in 2027.
GIANTS Executive Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, explained the decision on Jones.
“Darcy's commitment throughout his rehabilitation has been exceptional, and the work he's put in over the past 11 months deserves enormous credit.
"He's attacked every stage of his rehabilitation with a terrific attitude and has put in an enormous amount of work to get himself back to full health.
"This was a decision we made together, and one that gives Darcy the opportunity to enjoy a full pre-season and put himself in the best possible position for his return next year.
"We're incredibly proud of the way he's handled this chapter, and we can't wait to see him back out there in 2027."
The GIANTS will host the Suns at Corroboree Group Oval, Manuka on Sunday afternoon.
