Named vice-captain of the side for the first time ahead of the 2024 season, Smith is a tough and versatile defender capable of nullifying forwards of all shapes and sizes. Smith joined the GIANTS for the 2021 season following three years at Melbourne and has since established herself as one of the club’s most reliable players. Coming into her debut GIANTS season off a torn ACL injury in 2020, Smith showed her versatility from the get-go with strong performances in several roles. Full of grit and determination, Smith endured arguably her best season yet in 2024 to finish third in the GIANTS’ club champion award, the Gabrielle Trainor Medal. Smith also has a great footy IQ and has also utilised her talent off the field as an assistant coach with the Allies in AFL NSW/ACT’s female development program. Taken in the inaugural AFLW draft by the Demons in 2016, Smith celebrated 50 AFLW games in 2023 when the GIANTS took on the Kangaroos.
