Hundreds of people entered, but in the end it was a school teacher from Western Sydney who matched Leon Cameron and selected the correct team in our Pick the 22 competition.

There were hundreds of entries in the competition but only six people managed to correctly pick the same 22 that defeated St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

No one managed to pick the exact side in position order, or the named substitute, however Tony Taniane from Greystanes took out the competition by picking five of the starting six defenders and five of the starting six in the forward line.

A GIANTS member for the first time this year, Tony said he has always had an interest in AFL.

“I’m a teacher at the local Catholic girls school and run their AFL program in the GIANTS Cup,” he said.

“I’ve always liked AFL and took an interest in the Swans when they were the only team but I always saw them as northern or eastern Sydney.

“I wanted to follow a team who were part of our experience so I jumped on the GIANTS when they first started.

“I watched a few games at Spotless Stadium and Blacktown over the past few years and then joined up and became a GIANTS member for the first time in 2015.

“The GIANTS have gradually grown to become my team I can’t wait to see them develop.”

Tony followed the club closely across the pre-season to prepare for the Pick the 22 competition but didn’t think he was a chance of winning.

“I watched all the GIANTS’ pre-season games so I had a good idea of what the team could be,” he said.

“I spent about half-an-hour putting in my team but I’d been thinking about it all week.

“When Coniglio was named as the sub and I had Scully, I didn’t think I would be able to win.”

Tony has won a GIANTS match-day experience for two people to a 2015 GIANTS game including two GIANTS change-room passes, two tickets to the GIANTS SkyDeck and a signed GIANTS jumper.
