Jeremy Cameron wants to lift to a new level in 2020.

Fresh from taking home his first Coleman Medal, being named All Australian for a second time and finishing runner up in the 2019 Kevin Sheedy Medal, the 26-year-old has his sights set on getting even better.

“I said it this time last year to the coaches that I just wanted to play a really consistent season, minus the hamstring complaints or the suspensions and that if I could take that out of my game then I’d have a pretty good year,” he told GIANTS TV.

“I was lucky enough to play all bar two games this year, I think.

“I’m looking forward to hopefully doing the same again next season and coming back fitter and stronger.”

A stronger and fitter Jeremy Cameron is a truly frightful concept for the rest of the competition but a mouth-watering contemplation for GIANTS faithful who have watched him grow from kid to Coleman Medallist.

Rival clubs will also be hoping for stormy seas next winter as Cameron looks to continue his off-field approach to life in 2020.

Cameron decreased his amount of time on dry land and spent more time on his boat this season.

The more he fished, the more goals he kicked.

“I’ve never fished more in my life than I did this year and it seemed to work this year on the field as well,” he said.

“Instead of going three times a week, I might have to go six times a week next season.”

While the dust has barely settled on the GIANTS’ 2019 season, Cameron is well and truly looking forward to 2020.

He wants to make amends for the GIANTS’ disappointing showing in the Grand Final.

“I’ll go away, freshen up the mind a bit and freshen up the body at the same time, and come back knowing that you want to get back to that very last day,” he said.

“It’s a big journey but we’re going to be doing everything possible.

“I can’t wait for it to be honest; we do know what it takes now, but we’ve got to find something, that little bit extra to make sure we win on Grand Final day next time.

“I’m looking forward to it, I’m looking forward to growing with the whole team not just the forwards and giving it another almighty crack.”

Cameron still sees the season as a success and the combination he created with fellow forwards Jeremy Finlayson and Harry Himmelberg in 2019 was certainly one of those successes.

Cameron kicked 76 goals in 24 games, Finlayson 48 in 23 and Himmelberg 38 in 25.

The eight-time leading goalkicker said the GIANTS’ attack grew together over the course of the 2019 and is ready to go to a new level next season.

“We have a bit of a different look forward line some forward lines have only one key forward and most have two and we’ve got three for most of the season,” Cameron said.

“I think the best part is that we’ve been able to keep the forward line together for the most part.

“Brent Daniels played every game this year which was amazing for himself but to then have ‘Jez’ only miss a couple, myself only miss a couple and Harry played most games as well and then you’ve got guys like Daniel Lloyd who are just growing each and every season.

“Everyone’s sort of mingled well this year and we’ve grown really quickly. I think it’s been surprising to a lot of people on the outside how quick our growth has come.

“That’s a credit to the guys they just want to get better each and every week and it’s made for a pretty good season.

“I’m looking forward to building on that next year.”
