On-baller Josh Kelly has recorded his second ‘perfect game’ of the season.
Kelly received ten votes in the 2019 Shadforth Financial Group AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award for his dominant display in the GIANTS’ 23 point win over North Melbourne in Hobart on Sunday.
The 24-year-old collected 35 disposals, took seven marks, laid seven tackles and kicked a goal as the GIANTS reclaimed second spot on the AFL ladder.
Kelly also won six clearances and sent the ball inside 50 four times, directly assisting in two goals and having seven score involvements.
It’s the second time in the last month that Kelly has claimed 10 votes, with his performance in the GIANTS’ round 10 win over Melbourne.
Kelly was also named in the AFL.com.au Team of the Week alongside team-mates Toby Greene and Stephen Coniglio.
While Greene didn’t receive a vote from the coaches, Coniglio nabbed six votes alongside young midfielder Jacob Hopper.
Coniglio was electric in the win over the Kangaroos, kicking two goals and racking up 27 touches, while Hopper continued his most consisted season to date with 29 disposals, eight tackles and a goal.
Zac William’s outstanding rebound across half back saw him earn five votes with the 24-year-old gathering 28 disposals at 78 per cent efficiency, kicking a goal and rebounding from defensive fifty six times.
Milestone-man Tim Taranto had a day to remember in game 50 with ‘The Bull’ earning two votes.
Taranto was as tough as always, laying 10 tackles, collecting 30 disposals and kicking a crucial goal.
While Matt de Boer will be sidelined for the next two months, his effort through the first three quarters before injuring his shoulder was outstanding.
The competition’s best tagger earned a vote after keeping North Melbourne’s Ben Cunnington to just 10 disposals up to the final change while collecting 11 of his own and laying eight tackles.
Meanwhile forward Harry Himmelberg has earned for his third Mark of the Year nomination after taking another great mark against North Melbourne.
