For someone who surprised himself in making it to day two of his AFL career, Adam Kennedy has shown plenty of resilience and staying power since.

The original GIANT joined Phil Davis and Alison Zell as this week’s guest on The Footy Phil podcast to talk all things football – and plenty besides.

Everything's Bigger Up Close. Don't miss the GIANTS' clash with Richmond at GIANTS Stadium on Saturday. Get your tickets by clicking here.

The proud Melton product – described as “resilient, brave, tough and selfless”, but also “cheeky, annoying, provocative” by Davis – talks about his unusual route into footy, and why his online nickname “ViperStrike” is the perfect name for playing chess against Sam Taylor.

He reflects on how he came to the GIANTS amid a host of top picks but with no number alongside his own name, having been picked up in the pre-selection, and nearly accidentally left training midway through his very first day at the club.

Both Kennedy and Davis look back at a disappointing game against the Eagles – which featured “four Kennedys and four Darlings” for Davis after copping an accidental poke in the eye – and then turn their sights to a big game at GIANTS Stadium against Richmond.
