The GIANTS will enter this weekend's Sydney Derby without captain Toby Greene, with the skipper expected to be sidelined for the next three-to-four weeks after sustaining a moderate quad strain.
Greene was ruled out during the third quarter of Sunday's match against the Bombers, with scans on Monday confirming the injury and the expected recovery timeline.
Meanwhile, promising youngster Ollie Hannaford is aiming to return to the action this week.
The 19-year-old will need to get through Thursday’s main training in order to prove his availability following a foot injury.
Kieren Briggs will remain unavailable for a second week, allowing sufficient time for an infected wound to heal on his leg.
Jake Riccardi will return to unrestricted full team training this week, focusing on game-based conditioning, as he eyes off a return in the coming weeks.
Darcy Jones has continued to train fully with the main group, responding well to increased training loads as he builds consistency ahead of his return.
Brent Daniels is on track to return to running later this week, while Leek Aleer continues to manage ongoing groin soreness with a return-to-play timeline still yet to be determined.
The GIANTS will host the Swans in Sydney Derby XXXIII on Saturday afternoon.
