GIANTS co-captain Callan Ward will replace star forward Jeremy Cameron for Friday night’s AFLX tournament at Marvel Stadium.

Ward comes into Nat Fyfe’s Flyers team alongside vice-captain Stephen Coniglio with Phil Davis and Lachie Whitfield to line up for Jack Riewoldt’s Rampage.

Cameron will miss the second instalment of AFLX after suffering a minor quad injury at training.

“Jeremy pulled up with a tight quad after training, but scans have ruled out a tear which is good news,” said GIANTS Head of Athletic Performance David Joyce.

“He’ll back off training this week but is still in contention to play in the first JLT Community Series game next week.”

The 2019 AFLX competition will take place at Marvel Stadium on Friday from 7pm AEDT.

The four teams – led by Fyfe, Riewoldt, Patrick Dangerfield and Eddie Betts – will compete in a round-robin tournament, with games of 10-minute halves. The top two teams will play off in a Grand Final.

The games will take place on a rectangular field, with eight players on the field and six on the bench.

The tournament will be broadcast on the Seven Network and Foxtel, as well as on the AFL Live App and AFL.com.au.
