Young GIANTS Daisy Walker and Caitlin Fletcher have both signed one-year contract extensions, keeping them in the orange and charcoal for the 2026 NAB AFLW season.

Local Sydney product Fletcher debuted for the GIANTS in round one of the 2025 season and stood out amongst the six first-gamers, before her season was cut cruelly short as hip soreness ruled her out for the remainder of the year.

Fletcher returned to running late in the season and will continue her rehabilitation in preparation for the 2026 pre-season commencement in May.

Walker joined the GIANTS from the Blues at the conclusion of the 2023 season but unfortunately sustained an ACL injury during pre-season, keeping her out of contention throughout 2024.

An agile defender, Walker claimed her spot in the GIANTS’ backline and made her debut in round three this year against the Crows, before going on to play every subsequent match.

Aged 22 and 23 respectively, both players make up a key part of the GIANTS young core, looking to propel the team into finals contention next season.

“We’re excited to have both Daisy and Caitlin commit to the club for another season,” Executive General Manager of AFLW Alison Zell said.

“Daisy has shown immense resilience and intent in both getting back to fitness and becoming an important fixture in the GIANTS’ backline this season.

“She finished 2025 incredibly strongly and we look forward to seeing her continued growth and development into and across next season.

“With just one match, Caitlin showcased a great mind for the game and a fearless, competitive approach to football, both key traits we look for in our players.

“Her commitment to her rehabilitation and forward-focused attitude to her recovery have impressed us greatly and we are eagerly anticipating her return to AFLW level in 2026.

“I look forward to both these young players continuing to grow and develop in GIANTS’ colours next season.”
