GIANTS captain Toby Greene has been selected to represent Victoria in the 2026 AAMI Origin game.

One of the league’s most dynamic players, Greene is the among the latest stars across the competition to be selected to take part in the highly anticipated Origin clash which will see WA and Victoria do battle at Optus Stadium on Saturday, February 14.

The 2026 Origin game will see state-based rivalry return at the elite level for the first time in more than 25 years, having last been played in 1999 when Victoria played South Australia at the MCG.

Thursday’s Origin selection adds to an already incredible resume for the GIANTS’ superstar skipper, with the three-time All Australian, two-time Kevin Sheedy Medallist, and four-time GIANTS leading goalkicker now set to don the Big V in the highly anticipated return of State of Origin football.

Greene’s selection means the GIANTS now have three of their stars named to participate in the 2026 Origin clash, with star full forward Jesse Hogan and gun fullback Sam Taylor named amongst Western Australia’s representatives on Wednesday.

GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, said it was great to see Greene chosen for the honour.

“He’s clearly one of the best players in the competition and full deserving of the honour and we’re looking forward to seeing him strut his stuff on what will be a huge occasion in February.

“We’ve now got three players selected to play in Origin following Sam Taylor and Jesse Hogan’s selection which is great recognition as it really is a huge honour to play State of Origin footy.”

Greene’s selection comes as one of nine new players announced in Victoria's squad on Thursday, with Max Gawn (Melbourne), Hugh McCluggage (Brisbane), Noah Anderson (Gold Coast), Max Holmes, Tom Stewart (Geelong), Jacob Weitering (Carlton), Jack Sinclair (St Kilda), and Sam Darcy (Western Bulldogs) all set to pull on the Big V.
