The GIANTS’ AFLW program has welcomed eight new faces this pre-season as the club prepares to celebrate its 10th AFLW campaign in season 2025.
With less than a month to go before the GIANTS kick-off season 10 in a historic clash against Essendon in Canberra on August 16, the club's fresh new faces were officially gathered to receive their new jumpers.
First-round draft pick Grace Martin will begin her career in the number one jumper left vacant by Annise Bradfield.
Taken with the club’s second pick at pick 22 in last year’s draft, Martin is a powerful utility who joined the GIANTS after a starring season for both South Australia in the under 18 national championships and the Woodville-West Torren Eagles in the SANFLW, with the teenager named in both the under 18 All Australian side and the SANFLW Team of the Year.
Eleanor Brown will take up the number eight jumper in her first season in orange and charcoal, taking over from inaugural GIANT Nicola Barr.
An athletic former top 10 draft pick who can match up well on different sized opponents, Brown is a tall and versatile defender who joined the club in the summer from the Western Bulldogs via a four-way trade.
Exciting number three pick Sara Howley will wear the number nine as she looks to make her mark in the competition, with the young gun taking over the number from Caitlin Miller.
A speedy and versatile midfielder, Howley was a back-to-back U18 All Australian and Coates Talent League Team of the Year member who is blessed with sharp skills, a high footy IQ, elite running ability, and a knack for finding the footy.
Promising midfielder Taylah Levy will take up the number 10 jumper in her first season with the club after making the move to the GIANTS following two seasons and 16 games with the Crows.
Taking over the number from popular former GIANT Jasmine Grierson, Levy will look to make an immediate impact as a GIANT after the 24-year-old played every game for the Crows last year in a pivotal role as an inside-mid among a star-studded Adelaide midfield.
Youngster Caitlin Fletcher will wear the number 11 in her debut AFLW season after signing on as a replacement player for retired club legend Pepa Randall.
A 21-year-old inside midfielder who played for North Melbourne’s VFLW side this year, Fletcher takes over the number 11 jumper left vacant from retiring star Chloe Dalton.
Sophie Kavanagh will don the number 21 in her first season with the club after joining the GIANTS in the summer as a replacement player for Haneen Zreika who will miss the season after announcing she is expecting her first child.
A Sydney local who spent last year with AFLW premiers North Melbourne, Kavanagh takes over the number 21 from outgoing club legend Pepa Randall following her retirement.
Irish recruit Grace Kos will wear the number 27 in her debut season as she looks to transition from Gaelic Football to the AFLW competition.
A newcomer to the club and the game of Aussie Rules, Kos joined the GIANTS ahead of the 2025 AFLW season after making the switch from Gaelic football back in Ireland.
Signed out of Dublin, Kos is a 179cm utility who also played junior hockey and was an All-Ireland cross-country runner.
Versatile recruit Vivien Saad will pull on the number 39 for her first season as a GIANT after joining the club following 43 AFLW games across both the Gold Coast Suns and North Melbourne.
Missing all of last season at the Suns with a ruptured Achillies, Saad will be looking to complete her lengthy rehab and return to the field wearing new colours in 2025, with her ability to play at either end of the ground or in the ruck a strong asset.
The GIANTS will ramp up their preparations for the 2025 AFLW season with a match simulation clash with the Swans this Friday at GIANTS HQ from 1pm.
