The Board of the GIANTS has confirmed Tim Reed will become the next Chair of the club.

Mr Reed will assume the role immediately from current Chair, Tony Shepherd AO, who has held the position since the establishment of the club in 2011.

Mr Reed joined the GIANTS Board in 2022 and has played a significant role in a range of key club initiatives, in addition to serving on the club’s Audit and Risk Committee during that time.

As the current President of the Business Council of Australia, Mr Reed brings a wealth of experience in business and technology to the GIANTS Board and has been a proud GIANTS member since 2015.

Mr Reed is a non-executive director at Transurban, a $50Bn publicly listed enterprise on the ASX; Managing Director of Potentia Capital, a $1Bn growth and private equity firm; and has previously been the Chief Executive Officer and Director of MYOB over a 16-year career with the organisation.

Mr Reed holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (First Class Honours) from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Mr Shepherd congratulated Mr Reed on his appointment.

“Tim is a highly experienced director, has outstanding business acumen and is a passionate GIANTS supporter,” Mr Shepherd said.

“The GIANTS have a very strong and committed Board of Directors and Tim’s appointment will ensure a seamless transition into the club’s next phase.

“We have a significant growth agenda ahead of us and as Chair, Tim is very well placed to oversee that growth as we look to build on the many achievements we’ve enjoyed over the club’s first 12 years.”

Mr Reed said he was honoured to accept the position of Chair.

“My family and I have enjoyed supporting the GIANTS’ journey and it has been very satisfying to contribute to the strategy and governance of the club,” Mr Reed said.

“I have admired what Tony Shepherd; the Board and the Executive team have been able to achieve in such a short time.

“The opportunities for both the GIANTS and the AFL as a code are significant and I am delighted to be given the opportunity to Chair a hardworking and capable team as we seek continued success on-field and building our base off the field.”
