Exciting young ruckman Kieren Briggs will remain in the orange and charcoal until the end of 2024 after signing a new two-year deal.

The 200cm ruckman was drafted from the GIANTS Academy as a 19-year-old, taken with pick 34 in the 2018 NAB AFL Draft.

The 22-year-old became the second Western Sydney product to be drafted by the GIANTS and has played nine games for the club since his debut in 2021.

GIANTS General Manager of Football Jason McCartney was pleased to have locked in the young ruck for a further two years.

“It’s a great result for us to have Kieren recommitting to the club,” McCartney said.

“Kieren was considered one of the best tall prospects in his draft class, and as he continues to develop, we know he has the potential to be an important part of our club going forward.

“He’s done a lot of work this year with ruck coach Shane Mumford and added a few extra games under his belt - we’re excited to see what he can do in the future.

“He’s also a Western Sydney boy, which makes him a great role model and example for all the young up and coming footballers coming through our academy program."

Hailing from the Pennant Hills Demons, Briggs made a strong start to the year in the GIANTS VFL side before finding himself back in the senior side late in 2022.

Briggs said he was excited to commit to the GIANTS and play in his home state.

“I’ve loved my time at the GIANTS so far and I’m really excited to continue at the club for at least another two years,” Briggs said.

“Western Sydney is home for me, and we have a great group of players at the club.

“I’m looking forward to continuing my development and stringing a few more senior games together in 2023."

Briggs’ signing comes off the back of recent contract extensions for Callum Brown, Jacob Wehr, Cam Fleeton and Jesse Hogan.
