Midfielder Lisa Steane and ruck Ally Morphett have informed the GIANTS they will look to take up offers from the Swans for the next AFL Women’s season.

27-year-old Steane has played 19 games across three seasons with the GIANTS. 18-year-old Morphett joined the GIANTS last season and played six games in her debut season.

They join forward Rebecca Privitelli in departing for the Swans, who will enter the NAB AFLW competition in season seven.

“We’re disappointed to see Lisa and Ally depart,” said GIANTS Head of Women’s Football Briana Harvey.

“But we understand that every team will be affected with player movement with four new teams again coming into the competition.

“While disappointed, we look forward to our seventh season with optimism and excitement as we enter the next phase of the competition.”

Steane and Privitelli can join the Swans once the Trade and Signing period opens with the dates for this period yet to be set by the AFL. Given Morphett’s age, a trade will need to be facilitated for her to move.

The next AFLW season is expected to begin in August this year with the dates yet to be confirmed.
