The AFL today announced it would appeal the three-game suspension imposed by the AFL Tribunal on the GIANTS’ Toby Greene for Intentional Umpire Contact against Umpire Matt Stevic during the third quarter of the Elimination Final between the Sydney Swans and GWS GIANTS, played at UTAS Stadium on Saturday August 28, 2021.

The GIANTS’ requested the appeal be deferred until after the completion of the 2021 AFL Finals Series, which was granted by the AFL.

The request was made in light of the club’s current involvement in the 2021 Finals Series, in addition to complications related to travel and quarantine arrangements.

The club confirmed yesterday following the AFL Tribunal hearing that it would not be appealing the three-game suspension imposed on Greene.
