GREATER Western Sydney forward Jeremy Cameron remains eligible for the 2012 NAB AFL Rising Star after winning his appeal at the Tribunal on Tuesday night.

Cameron successfully argued his strike against Hawk Clinton Young was of such a "minimal scale" it shouldn't be considered as such.

Cameron was risking a one-game ban by appealing the decision but is now free to play Adelaide on Sunday and remains eligible for the Rising Star award.

The exciting key position player told the Tribunal he had made contact to Young with an open hand after jumping into the contest slightly late.

He said he had misjudged a pass from teammate Toby Greene, but expected Young to mark the ball - not spoil it - so was ready to spoil the Hawthorn player's marking attempt.??

The umpire who made the match day report, Troy Pannell, conceded he could not see on the day that Cameron's hand was open and agreed that Cameron's arm appeared "loose" on the footage as it collected Young.

The 19-year-old has played 12 games and kicked 22 goals in an outstanding start to his AFL career at the Giants. ?
