Team GWS utility midfielder Jack Dimery has praised his team mates efforts despite going down to the Stingrays this week.

GWS improved on last week’s second half capitulation against the Knights, with a solid effort across all four quarters. Despite losing by nine goals GWS put together some passages of play that made the second placed Stingrays look second rate, pleasing head Coach Alan McConnell.

“ It was a good effort, even though the disappointment of being beaten, we managed to put four quarters together, which is what Al Wanted.’ Said Dimery.

“The boys did well, we didn’t give up which was our aim for today, so we were happy with that but a loss is still disappointing”.

The Stingrays are one of the premiership favorites in the highly competitive TAC Cup, Dimery commended GWS and his young team mates who are facing players up to three years older.

“This competition is very highly skilled and fast paced, there’s more pressure on the footy as well more pressure on you to perform.

“TAC cup is good, definitely more skilled than where you come from. GWS is really professional with everything which helps us a lot as well”.

Team GWS has played nearly 60 boys this year which has made it tough to develop a strong player relationship with one another, however Dimery has found the club culture still very strong and the boys are starting to play better as a team.

“All the boys are getting along really well, where starting to play as one pack, which makes it a lot easier to play every weekend”.

Dimery has high hopes for the rest of the GWS season after this week’s effort, as they look to play finals footy for the first time.

“Hopefully we keep playing footy like this and string some wins together, build the club culture and then build on that towards the finals”.
