Young GIANTS recruit Jeremy Finlayson will have a delayed start to his first pre-season after undergoing hip surgery.

The 18-year old will be on a restricted program for the next 12-16 weeks and is expected to resume full training in late January.

Finlayson was selected by the GIANTS at last month’s NAB AFL Academy Player Bidding Meeting after coming through the PM CAPITAL GIANTS Academy.

Finlayson is a 195cm mobile forward who also has the ability to play in defence, on the wing and in the ruck.

He grew up in Culcairn in the Riverina and will officially join the GIANTS at the NAB AFL Draft on November 27, along with fellow PM CAPITAL GIANTS Academy player Jack Steele.

Finlayson will join his new GIANTS team mates this week as pre-season training gets underway for first to fourth year players.
