Greater Western Sydney GIANTS Head Coach Kevin Sheedy has urged fans to be patient after his side suffered a 119 point loss to Adelaide at Skoda Stadium.

Speaking after the game, Sheedy was asked about the impact of the loss on the players coming after last week's 162 point defeat by Hawthorn.

"I tell them not to take any notice of it," he said. "If we are going to be any good we are going to get some smackings. We can't get frustrated with that.

"We are a six cylinder car driving on four. We need another two cylinders and and we will get that with maturity and strength."

Adelaide enhanced its top four prospects with its 27.16 (178) to 8.11 (59) victory in brilliant sunshine in front of 7669 fans at the AFL's newest venue in Western Sydney.

Callan Ward and Toby Greene again stood out for the Giants, while Adam Treloar battled manfully in his duel with Patrick Dangerfield and Chad Cornes and Phil Davis held their own in defence.

Jonathan Patton, Jeremy Cameron and Israel Folau also lined up together for the first time in the forward line and all had their moments, with Folau's best contributions coming in the ruck, but it will be some time before the inexperienced trio clicks into gear.

As has so often been the case this year, the young Giants faded after a competitive start. With Greene, mature-age first-gamer Steve Clifton and Cornes busy early, Nathan Wilson and Ward kicked goals to put the home side in front midway through the first quarter.

The Crows responded, kicking the next four goals, but they were being confronted by the plucky Giants, who trailed by 16 points at the first break. The GIANTS then closed the gap to just three points with Treloar and Patton goals, but that only served to ignite the Crows.

In the ensuing 10 minutes, Adelaide put 4.2 on the board without reply as the expected script began to unfold, taking a 32-point lead into half-time.

Sheedy would have been pulling his hair out early in the third quarter, with his young side dominating possession but only registering one behind and three consecutive shots out on the full.

The GIANTS will travel Perth to play Fremantle next Sunday before returning to Sydney for back to back matches against Collingwood and Port Adelaide at Skoda Stadium.
