Thunderbolts and lightning… very very frightening.

No we’re not revisiting Queen’s classic Bohemian Rhapsody, rather the unforgettable night when players were forced from the ground at quarter time due to an electrical storm and the GIANTS downed their cross-town rivals for the very first time.

In a week that was meant to hold Sydney Derby XIX, we’re going way back to 2014 for the Rewatchables, to the season opener at GIANTS Stadium and the first game Leon Cameron was in charge as coach.

The club was coming into the season with high hopes following two tough years and some experienced recruits to help our young stars stand tall.

Few outside the club gave the GIANTS any chance against the Swans in Buddy Franklin’s first outing for his new club.

However, in a night that had everything, the GIANTS grew from boys to men in front of our eyes.

Across the shutdown period, the GIANTS media team are re-living our favourite games from the past few years and round one, 2014 is one of the most famous victories in our short history.

Shane Mumford Tackles Buddy Franklin

The game swung thanks to a string of impressive performances including from former Swan Shane Mumford, who will join GIANTS Media’s Leigh Meyrick, Alison Zell and Craig Abercrombie on the Rewatchables Podcast.

Join us on Saturday morning from 8:30am to re-live the game - watch along on Fox Footy and Kayo Sports as the GIANTS live tweet the game on Twitter before we catch up with Mumford on the podcast that will drop that same day.

And don't forget, GIANTS members were sent a special discount code for Kayo Sports via email last month.

If you’re looking for another footy fix before Saturday’s game, why don’t you catch up on previous Rewatchables as the GIANTS reflect on some famous victories from the 2018 and 2019 seasons

Log on from 8.30am Saturday for this week’s Rewatchables. We’ll see you there!
