Maisy Evans will play her first game at AFLW level against the Cats in round nine of the 2026 NAB AFLW Season.
Picked up in the inaugural AFLW Pre-Season Draft in May with the second overall selection, Evans has been developing her ruck craft and working towards selection with strong performances at AFLW scrimmage level.
A versatile tall, with a background in rugby union and netball, Evans was drafted out of Bond University in the QAFLW, after notching three best player performances in her first three matches of the season, before making the move south to the GIANTS and professional football.
With both parents playing rugby at representative level, Evans’ intrinsic drive and natural athleticism have helped to build her foundations as both a ruck and inside midfielder.
She has also featured as a leading forward in her scrimmage appearances.
GIANTS Executive General Manager of AFLW, Alison Zell, congratulated Evans for her work ethic through a shortened pre-season and the grit she has shown to work her way into the side.
“Maisy has trained with particular determination over the last month to get herself ready for this opportunity and we’re excited to see what she does with it,” Zell said.
“She’s got a great ferocity when she plays and brings great weapons with her aerial ability and tackling.
“We look forward to seeing Maisy run out on Saturday and grabbing the chance with both hands.”
