Livewire Brodee Mowbray will return to the side on Saturday when the GIANTS take on the Cats in round nine of the 2026 NAB AFLW Season.
Mowbray injured her quad in training last month, which ruled her out of the Sydney Derby and the following four matches of football.
The winger started the season as one of the team’s best impact players, averaging 12.8 disposals and 0.8 goals a game but more frequently acts as the squad’s pressure meter, with her relentless opposition pursuit and tackling.
Mowbray adds some important speed through the wing and across half-forward, important areas to combating the Cats’ quick transition play, which has been their best attacking asset this season.
She rejoins the team alongside Maisy Evans, who will play her first game at AFLW level.
Evans debut was announced to the rapturous support of her teammates on Wednesday afternoon by assistant coach Stephen Camp.
Mowbray and Evans enter the side for Sara Howley (injured) and Caitlin Fletcher (omitted).
The GIANTS will need to stem the Cats quick handball movement and match their high-pressure game to cause an upset against the third-placed Hoops.
They travel to Geelong to meet with the Cats in the first of two weeks’ celebrating Pride Round, on Saturday, October 10 at 5:05pm.
