While the pause button may have been hit on the 2020 AFL season, that doesn’t mean the action stops for GIANTS fans.

From this weekend, GIANTS fans will have the chance to take a trip down memory line as we re-live some classic match ups against the team we were meant to be facing that round.

It all kicks off this Saturday with Fox Footy rolling out AFL Shutdown Shootout - a memorable game between the GIANTS and Demons in place of the clash that was meant to take place at the MCG between the two clubs.

Out of the 12 games the clubs have played, the result has been split straight down the middle with six wins a piece.

There are some tough decisions that’ll have to be made by the guys at Fox Footy in regards to which tape they put in the machine and beam across the country to the GIANTS family.

Will it be:

  • The GIANTS’ drought-breaking win at home in 2013 after 21 straight losses?
  • The nail biting season opener from 2016 when Steve Johnson pulled on a GIANTS jumper for the first time?
  • The 2017 clash at UNSW Canberra Oval when the GIANTS jumped out of the blocks with our highest-scoring first quarter ever?
  • The first-ever clash between the two clubs in 2012 when vindictive Demons fans waved bags of cash at their former player Tom Scully who had recently joined the GIANTS?

GIANTS fans are encouraged to watch the game from 2pm through Fox Footy while also following the action via the club’s twitter account as we go down memory lane for some fun and frivolity while the live action is on hold.

The club’s media staff have gone deep into the archives to trawl through the best behind the scenes videos from over the years when we’ve taken on the Demons.

Following the replay on Fox Footy, the GIANTS will jump on their podcast channel and relive the game through the eyes of the people involved.

There’s plenty happening to stay connected with the club GIANTS fans so send us any ideas you want to see brought to life through the club’s social media channels.

It’s a challenging time, but we will Never Surrender.
