Nicola Barr has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Nicola Barr will miss at least three weeks of football after suffering a hamstring strain during the GIANTS’ record-breaking win over Richmond in Wagga Wagga on Saturday.

The hard-running midfielder limped from Robertson Oval during the final quarter of the GIANTS’ 45-point-win over the Tigers.

“Unfortunately Nic went down with a hamstring strain in the fourth quarter,” GIANTS AFL Women’s Head Physiotherapist Gemma Vale said.

“She’ll miss the next three weeks, but she’s taken on the rehab already this week so it’s promising to see how she goes.”

Britt Tully will be given every opportunity to prove her fitness ahead of Sunday’s clash with Adelaide at Richmond Oval, with the tough on-baller recovering from a concussion suffered in the final minutes of the win over the Tigers.

Richmond’s Laura McClelland was suspended for two matches after pleading guilty to engaging in rough conduct against Tully.

The Canberra product has the benefit of an eight-day break between games to recover in time for the crunch match against Adelaide.

“Britt went off with a concussion and got tested by our doc for a Head Injury Assessment and a SCAT,” Vale said.

“She has been diagnosed with a concussion… fortunately we have a longer turnaround this week and if she tests well during the week, we will have her available for the game on Sunday.”

Meanwhile, there are positive signs for captain Alicia Eva with the star midfielder returning to the track this week.

Eva missed Saturday’s win – the first time she’s missed a game since the competition began – due to a foot injury.

“Alicia had a mid-foot strain in the Lions game,” Vale said.

“It’s looking really promising, she’s back on the track this week. We’ll test her for this week’s game, hopefully we’ll get her up.”

Forward Yvonne Bonner is also progressing well since injuring her left ankle, with the Irishwoman is on track to return if the GIANTS make the finals
