The GIANTS congratulate Matthew Nicks on being appointed head coach of the Adelaide Football Club.

Nicks joined the GIANTS for the 2019 season as senior assistant coach following eight seasons at the Power.

GIANTS General Manager of Football Wayne Campbell wished Nicks well at the Crows.

“We only had the pleasure of having Matthew at our football club for a year but in that short time he made a hugely positive and significant impact on our group,” Campbell said.

“He came to us as a highly-regarded football person and it isn’t hard to see why the Crows have chosen him as their next head coach.

“We thank Matthew for his hard work and support over the 2019 season and wish him and his family only the best in this exciting next chapter of their lives.”

The 44-year old was one of the inaugural participants in the AFL’s Level Four Coaching program, which was designed to prepare assistant coaches looking to take the next step to a senior coaching role in the AFL.

Prior to his coaching career, Nicks played 175 games for the Sydney Swans before retiring in 2005.
