Which GIANT gets the unenviable task of matching up on three time All Australian Eddie Betts?

That’s the question that faces GIANTS coach Leon Cameron at the next selection meeting before his side’s Qualifying Final against Adelaide next Thursday.

The mercurial Crows forward has strung together another standout season kicking 49 goals and being named in the 2017 Virgin Australia AFL All Australian side on Wednesday night.

“It’d be good if he didn’t play and we didn’t have to worry about him,” Cameron said on Friday with a wry smile.

Jokes aside Cameron tossed up the names of three players who could be asked to quell the small forward who averages three goals a game against the GIANTS.

“Heath Shaw has had some good duels with him over the years when they were at previous clubs and we really value Zac Williams’ offensive game but probably his last six weeks his defence has gone through the roof,” he said.

“We’re really confident of him manning up on Betts at times as well.

“You’ve got to be mindful that he’s also very good in the air. Aidan Corr’s been playing on a lot of talls and a lot of smalls to prepare him for some of these opportunities so he’ll be heavily discussed as well.”

Betts is just one of the many Adelaide players Cameron and his GIANTS will be looking to stop on Thursday night at the Adelaide Oval.

Cameron said he’s spent much of the bye trying to find a chink in the armour of the minor premiers.

“Everyone talks about their front half and their ability to score but what I’m really interested in is they're a contested ball machine all over the ground,” he said.

“They all win their own footy and have done an extraordinary job in doing that.

“They have an A-grade ruckman and five or six mids that roll through there, that put their head over the footy and run both ways.

“There’s not a lot of weaknesses, we’ve got to be at our absolute best to take it up to them and we’re looking forward to that challenge.”
