Welcome to Talk to the Palm, Greater Western Sydney GIANTS midfielder Rhys Palmer’s new blog.

Having grown up with sport my whole life and being an avid sports lover, it’s only natural to be excited about big sporting events.
Whether it’s Le Tour de France in July, through to the NBA season over summer and that special time every four years when the Olympics roll around, and we are lucky enough to witness history unfold before our eyes.
With these events on, it also encourages the banter between the boys, some whom are deluded that they are a part of certain sports.
Sammy Darley (#14) is still on cloud 9, after celebrating his first NBA Championship Ring with the Miami Heat and his good mates Lebron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade.
With every winner there is a loser, with the one and only Adam Treloar (starting Point Guard with the Oklahoma City Thunder) being exceptionally disappointed with his team and best mate Kevin Durant’s performance during the Finals series.
My housemate Josh Bruce (#47) seems to have taken time off his busy football schedule to skip over to the French alps, to help his boy Cadel Evans get over the line for his second Tour victory.
With the Olympics only a few weeks away, I can see the nerves building amongst a few of the boys. In particular, with Tom Scully (#9) getting prepared for his dual with the Kenyans in the 3000 metres event.
We’re also quite excited to see our first Australian in the 100m final since Matt Shervington, with Nathan Wilson and Tim Golds making the cut. Good luck boys!
Chad Cornes is the consummate professional, as he hasn’t left the gym in a bid to grab gold in the Clean & Jerk weightlifting event, for the Green and Gold.
But the two that take the cake at the Giants are the star hosts of the weekly Giants TV show: G1 and G3.
Phil Davis #1 and Stephen Conigilo #3, both share a lot in common, including great looks and very outgoing personalities. But the one thing that springs to mind about these boys is that they both believe and keep telling EVERYONE that they deserve to be in Australian cricket side!
It’s nearly a daily occurrence at Greater Western Sydney for Phil and Steve to take us all down memory lane to reminisce about their cricket ‘glory days’ and they are clearly still questioning whether they made the right career move pursuing AFL!
On a serious note, good luck to all Aussie athletes competing all over the world. We wish you well and the boys will be watching and willing you on to success.
