Star forward Toby Greene is expected to return to the GIANTS side to take on North Melbourne in Hobart on Sunday.
Greene was a late withdrawal from last week’s clash with the Crows after suffering soreness behind his knee.
“We certainly do (think he plays) at this stage,” GIANTS General Manager of Football Wayne Campbell said.
“As always he has to get through training … he was a chance to play last weekend but we pulled him out late.
“At this stage if he gets through training this week then we think he lines up on Sunday against the Kangas.”
Defender Nick Haynes will miss the trip to the Apple Isle after scans revealed he injured his ankle in Saturday night’s loss.
“We think he’ll miss this week and probably next week,” Campbell said.
“He was very brave to play on like he did … scans revealed a grade one tear of an ankle ligament.”
In the NEAFL, young draftee Xavier O’Halloran and defender Lachie Keeffe will spend some time on the sidelines after injuries in the GIANTS’ win over the Swans.
O’Halloran injured his lateral collateral ligament - the same injury co-captain Callan Ward did in the pre-season - while Keeffe broke a bone in his hand during a contest.
“Xavier was similar to Callan Ward in the JLT earlier this year,” Campbell said.
“It might be a little bit worse, Cal missed three but Xavier’s seeing a surgeon today.
“He’ll certainly miss the next three or four at least, we’re just not sure if he requires surgery just yet.
“Lachie went to tackle someone and fractured one of the bones in his wrist.
“He doesn’t require surgery but will be in a brace for three for a weeks so he as well won’t play this weekend and will miss a few weeks.”
The GIANTS take on the Kangaroos at Blundstone Arena on Sunday at 3:20pm.
