GIANTS utility Grace Kos has been called up to represent team Ireland ahead of Saturday’s historic NAB AFLW Australia v Ireland clash.
The midfielder, who hails from County Dublin, was a fast starter for the GIANTS in season 2025, featuring in five games before an elbow injury interrupted her debut season.
An elite runner, with a background in both cross-country and field hockey, Kos was highly touted for her speed and endurance which transitioned easily into the GIANTS’ running game, where she featured as both an inside midfielder and ruck through the 2025 season.
Kos is a great pressure player and will add speed out of contest for the Irish side when they take on Australia this weekend.
Executive General Manager of AFL, Alison Zell, was delighted to share the news with Kos on Monday.
“This is such a well-earned moment for Grace who has been an important addition to our group since joining the GIANTS last season,” Zell said.
“Grace’s athleticism and running game are what attracted us to her as a Gaelic football star and we’re excited to see her deploy those weapons for Ireland now as well.
“She made a significant impact to our playing group off-the-field while she was restricted by injury last year, but now fully fit, she has gone from strength to strength this pre-season.
“We’re all excited for Grace and look forward to seeing her line up alongside Eilish for Ireland this weekend.”
Kos will join GIANTS’ teammate Eilish O’Dowd in the Irish camp on Thursday morning, leading into Saturday’s match at North Sydney Oval.
