16 players recorded personal bests, with Yerbury headlining a host of fresh faces, including pre-season draftee Sophia Gaukrodger and high-profile recruit Tilly Lucas-Rodd who also finishing in the top ten.

The time trial marks the commencement of the official AFLW pre-season, a two-month block of high performance and conditioning training leading into the 2026 season.

Winger Madi Brazendale was just pipped at the post to finish in second place, with veteran Alicia Eva coming in third, leading from the front in her eleventh AFLW pre-season.

Eva’s strong return comes off the back of a rehabilitation period, following a disrupted 2025 season, with injuries to her hamstring and toe.

AFLW Head of High Performance Scott Smith said the players’ rigorous approach to the off-season contributed to an impressive output in the time trial.

“We’re extremely impressed by how the players have returned to headquarters,” Smith said.

“To have a first-year player lead the time trial from start to finish is a great reflection on the strength of talent that has been recruited this year as well as PB performances from our most experienced players in Alicia Eva and Bec Beeson, who continue to set standards for us, shows great strength across the group as a whole.

“16 personal bests across the group is exceptional and really reflects how hungry the players are to improve and how hard they have worked through the offseason which now enables us to begin conditioning from a higher aerobic fitness base.

“This is a great marker to tell us where we are at and sets us up for a great preseason and has us in a really strong position as we lead into season 2026.”
