Penrith's Jake Stein will make his AFL debut.

Defender Jake Stein will become the 94th GIANT to pull on the orange and charcoal in an AFL game when he makes his debut in Sunday afternoon’s clash against North Melbourne in Tasmania.

The announcement of Stein’s debut marks a significant milestone in the Penrith product’s remarkable sporting journey.

The now 25-year-old signed as a Category B Rookie in November 2016 after a distinguished career in Athletics.

A decathlete, Stein represented Australia at the 2014 Commonwealth games and won gold at the 2011 IAAF World Youth Championships but made the switch to AFL after being courted by Rugby League clubs.

Born and raised in Western Sydney, Stein has played 41 games for the GIANTS’ NEAFL side since debuting in round 1, 2017.

Playing primarily as a deep defender, Stein has been a consistent contributor at NEAFL level and was awarded the club’s NEAFL Development Award in 2018.

Stein will be elevated to the senior list with co-captain Callan Ward placed on the long-term injury list.
