Star midfielder and vice-captain Josh Kelly has put pen to paper on a new deal with the GIANTS, keeping him in the orange and charcoal until at least the end of 2021.

The 24-year-old is already one of the stars of the competition, having played 104 AFL games since his debut in round two, 2014.

Kelly returned to the field in round three this season and is averaging more than 28 touches and five tackles a game.

The 2017 Kevin Sheedy Medallist said he’s excited to have his contract locked away.

“It’s a really exciting time to be a GIANT,” Kelly said.

“Sydney has been my home for the last five years and as a leader of the club I feel real ownership about the future direction of the GIANTS.

“I see my long-term future here and I’m really happy to continue my career with such a special organisation. Playing and living in Sydney offers so much opportunity and has played a big factor in my decision to commit to the GIANTS.”

GIANTS List Manager Jason McCartney said the club is thrilled to secure Kelly’s signature.

“Josh is an outstanding person and an outstanding player and there’s no doubt this is an exciting day for the club and our fans,” McCartney said.

“As vice-captain, he’s a leader of our football club and we’ve seen him develop both on and off the field since he arrived here over five years ago.

“Josh has clearly shown strong confidence in the club and his re-signing further underlines the GIANTS culture and our long term ambition. This announcement continues the club’s long and healthy track record of extending priority players.”

Kelly’s re-signing continues a raft of key contract extensions the GIANTS have secured this year including Jacob Hopper, Nick Haynes, Adam Kennedy, Harry Himmelberg, Brent Daniels and Matt de Boer.
