The GIANTS have bolstered their list at the 2025 AFLW Draft on Monday, December 15, selecting Northern Knights star Scarlett Johnson at pick two and Swans Academy product Kiera Yerbury with pick three.
One of the most versatile athletes amid this year’s nominees, Johnson joins the GIANTS following an outstanding season in the Coates Talent League.
Johnson also registered incredible results at the 2025 Draft Combine, finishing inside the top 10 for agility, 20m sprint and running vertical jump.
The GIANTS also selected midfielder/forward Keira Yerbury from the North Shore Bombers in the AFL Sydney competition, with the Swans electing not to match the GIANTS’ bid on their Academy product.
A ready-made GIANTS-style player, with her run-and-carry and sharp handballing skills, Yerbury starred for the Allies at the National Championships in 2025.
With their final pick of the evening, the GIANTS secured Canberra local and GIANTS Academy product Yasmeen Janschek at pick 55.
An emerging 184cm ruck who shone throughout her overage year, Janschek is a talented multi-sport athlete who has developed quickly despite taking up the game at a later age.
Executive General Manager of AFLW Alison Zell was ecstatic at the talent secured on the night.
“Scarlett, Kiera and Yas are three immensely talented footballers who bring versatility and plenty of football IQ to our 2026 AFLW list,” Zell said.
“All three players have unique weapons and will add significantly to our list, with each highly touted for their athleticism.
“We look forward to welcoming Scarlett, Kiera and Yas into the GIANTS family ahead of the 2026 AFLW season.”
