Pre-season is well under way at the GIANTS, with the club welcoming its latest crop of draftees and fresh faces this week, as their new jumper numbers were revealed.
Draftees Oskar Taylor, Finn Davis, and Riley Hamilton all received their new jumpers on Tuesday as they joined the club’s second to fourth year players for their first day at GIANTS HQ.
Taylor, taken with the club’s first pick at 15 in last week’s National Draft, will wear the number 34 for his debut season, a jumper most recently worn by Josh Fahey.
Hailing from Victoria, Taylor is a versatile medium defender with explosive speed and a penetrating left foot who joins the GIANTS after starring for the Eastern Ranges in their premiership-winning side in the Coates Talent League.
Meanwhile fellow Victorian, Davis, the club’s second pick in the National Draft, will wear jumper number 45 for his debut season in orange and charcoal.
A 188cm defender, Davis is a versatile footballer who can lock down on both tall and small forwards while also being able to provide plenty of drive as a running defender, highlighted by his Coates Talent League averages of 27.7 disposals and 6.4 rebound 50s per game for the Western Jets.
Hamilton, a GIANTS Academy graduate signed as a Category B Rookie, will wear number 43 for his maiden season as a GIANT, a jumper most recently worn by a fellow Hamilton in popular former GIANT – and social media guinea pig – Cooper Hamilton.
Originally overlooked in last year’s draft, Hamilton is a 19-year-old dangerous medium forward who realised his AFL dreams through impressive performances for the GIANTS Academy as well as for the Allies in the National Championships and the club’s VFL side in 2025.
Meanwhile two other new GIANTS have officially been given their new jumper numbers, with former Demon Clayton Oliver given the number 10 most recently worn by Jacob Wehr, while former Bomber Jayden Laverde will don the number 25 left vacant by popular retiree Lachlan Keeffe.
After kicking off pre-season with the club’s second to fourth year players this week, the remainder of the GIANTS’ senior group will officially return to the track on Monday for a two-week block until the Christmas break, before returning in early January, ready for a big 2026.
