Star midfielder Clayton Oliver has become a GIANT on the final day of the 2025 Continental Tyres Trade Period.
The GIANTS completed a trade with Melbourne on Wednesday evening, sending a future third round pick to the Demons in exchange for the midfield beast.
A three-time All Australian and two-time AFLCA Player of the Year, Oliver is widely regarded as one of the league’s premier contested ball winners.
Known for his work around stoppage, as well as his vision and burst in transition, the tough and physical 28-year-old will add further firepower to the GIANTS’ midfield.
Drafted by the Demons with pick 4 in the 2015 AFL National Draft, Oliver is a four-time club best and fairest winner and across his 10-year career ranks elite in disposals, handballs, tackles and clearances.
The premiership-winning Demon joins a star-studded midfield brigade already boasting some of the competition’s most exciting midfield talent, adding further depth and class to the GIANTS’ engine room.
GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney said he was thrilled to secure Oliver.
“It’s a fantastic result that Clayton has chosen to continue his career at the GIANTS,“ McCartney said.
“He’s an extremely talented player who will strengthen our list and will thrive in the program, culture and environment that we have to offer.
“He is exactly the type of player who can help us take the next step in our journey toward success and we’re excited to see his future unfold in the orange and charcoal.”
As part of the trade with the Demons, Oliver becomes contracted with the GIANTS until the end of the 2030 season.
