Star defender Lachie Whitfield will miss this Friday’s clash with the Eagles, after failing to progress in the return to play protocols following the concussion he sustained in the round 15 win over the Suns.
Whitfield participated in a light training session on Monday but was deemed not fit to participate and won’t travel with the team to Perth on Thursday.
Kieren Briggs, Stephen Coniglio, Jesse Hogan, Phoenix Gothard and Jack Ough will all be a test for this weekend, with Adam Kingsley already confirming that Coniglio will return through the VFL this weekend.
Hogan returned from the bye with some lingering soreness in his foot and will need to get through Wednesday’s main training in order to make the trip west.
Sam Taylor will progress from a moonboot to off-feet cross training, while Brent Daniels’ adductor injury continues to be treated, with a return to play timeline still be determined.
The GIANTS’ AFL side will take on the Eagles at Optus Stadium on Friday night, while the VFL will take on the Werribee Tigers on Saturday at midday.
