GIANTS captain Toby Greene has released the following statement following comments made on AFL 360 last night.

“Last night, in discussions about Sam Taylor and Nathan Murphy and the seriousness of concussion, I stated that there were times that I did not report potential incidents. I’d like to clarify that in the early years of my career there were a few occasions that I had minor symptoms that I now know could have been related to a head knock or concussion, which I didn’t actively report to club doctors.

“The change in medical advice and attitudes has all been for the better in terms of educating players about the need to be assessed. My own attitude towards concussion has certainly changed across my career in line with this.

“As players, we now understand our own long-term health and wellbeing is far more important than playing a game of football and I’ve seen first-hand how seriously concussion and the impacts of concussion are taken across the entire playing group, which is only a good thing.”
