Former captain Alicia Eva has re-signed with the GIANTS.

Eva, one of the most integral figures of the women’s game, will remain a GIANT for an eighth season after putting pen to paper on a new one-year deal for the 2024 NAB AFLW season.

The 32-year-old is coming off another strong season in orange and charcoal, averaging 17 disposals and 3.3 tackles per game to once again finish inside the top 10 of the Gabrielle Trainor Medal.

Joining the club in 2018 following a season with Collingwood, Eva has been an instrumental force both on and off the field as a GIANT, named vice-captain in her very first season where she was later crowned the Gabrielle Trainor Medallist and named in the All-Australian team.

Eva was elevated to become just the second GIANTS AFLW captain ahead of the 2020 AFLW season, a role she executed brilliantly across five seasons before relinquishing the role at the conclusion of the 2023 AFLW season.

A tough, hard-running and hard-nosed winger, Eva’s on-field play in addition to her leadership and commitment to the women’s game has solidified her status as one of the league’s most admired players.

GIANTS Executive General Manager - Football Strategy and Operations, Briana Harvey, said the club is thrilled to secure Eva’s services for another year.

“Alicia is one of the pioneers of our AFLW program and we are super excited to see her go around for another season,” she said.

“Her leadership has been pivotal to our club and the standards she sets both on and off the field are vital to our young list.

“Alicia continues to be one of our best performers and after another strong season in 2023 we are excited about what 2024 will bring.

“While Alicia’s guidance will continue to remain pivotal in nurturing our large number of emerging leaders, I can’t wait to see what she can produce on the field with footy as her main focus in 2024.”
