The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS are pleased to confirm that Phil Scully has accepted a role with the club’s recruiting department and will begin work with the GIANTS in January 2012.

Scully joins the GIANTS after spending the last two years recruiting for the Sydney Swans covering games in the TAC Cup competition.

His new role will see him remain in Melbourne, working closely with Stephen Silvagni, National List and Recruitment Manager,

Silvagni said that he was looking forward to welcoming Scully to his recruitment team. “Phil has an obvious passion and understanding for the game as well as first-hand experience with what is expected of the players coming through the system,” he said.

“He’s spent the last two years working for the Swans, but expressed an interest to the GIANTS about moving into a fulltime position. He has had a lot of experience with the talent pathway in Victoria and he is going to be a valued addition to our team.”

His son Tom Scully signed with the GIANTS in September this year and will move to Western Sydney in a week’s time, ahead of pre season training.

Phil Scully’s appointment has been notified to the AFL and will be included within the Club’s Total Player Payments.
