Harry Himmelberg is set to return while Nick Haynes’ recovery has been delayed as the GIANTS get set to take on Richmond on Sunday afternoon.

Himmelberg is progressing through the concussion protocols following an incident against St Kilda in round 10 and is on track to take on the Tigers at GIANTS Stadium.

GIANTS Head of Medical James Rahme said:

“Harry was diagnosed with concussion in that Saints game and has been gradually progressing through the 12-day protocols since,” he said.

“He still needs to continue to tick off all the requirements but at this stage he’s feeling good and we expect him to be available to take on Richmond this weekend.”

Meanwhile, Haynes was also diagnosed with concussion in the same game but an infection has interrupted his progress through the protocols, with the key defender to be unavailable for the round 12 clash.

“Nick has had a bit of an unusual few days,” Rahme said.

“He developed an infection in a cut, causing him to miss a key training session on Saturday.

“As a result, while Nick is feeling better from both the infection and his concussion, he doesn’t have enough time to progress through the concussion protocols and take the field this weekend.

“He’ll continue to build up his training and at this stage we expect him to be ready to face the Kangaroos next week.”

The VFL side had a bye over the weekend while the AFL team recorded no injuries from their win over Geelong.

Both teams take on Richmond at GIANTS Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
