GIANTS vice-captain Stephen Coniglio is nearing a return to the field after a pre-season ankle injury.

The 23-year-old is listed as spending one more week on the sidelines, meaning he could be available for selection for the GIANTS round seven match against St Kilda.

Coniglio suffered the syndesmosis injury in the final JLT Community Series match against North Melbourne at UNSW Canberra Oval on March 10, seeing the West Australian miss the opening six rounds of the season.

In good news for GIANTS fans, no injuries came out of the AFL and NEAFL games at the SCG on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Defender Matthew Buntine underwent surgery on his ACL late last week and will now commence his lengthy rehabilitation program.

Young defender Harry Himmelberg didn’t play over the weekend due to a rib injury suffered in a NEAFL match the week before and is listed as a test this week.

Experienced campaigners Brett Deledio, Tendai Mzungu and Ryan Griffen along with first-yearr midfielder Will Setterfield continue to make good progress in the rehabilitation group.
