Welcome Game

The GIANTS’ Welcome Game aims to showcase the rich cultural diversity of Western Sydney and bring together new and existing fans to experience AFL football and their home team, the GIANTS!

Sport is one of the best ways to build social cohesion and create a sense of belonging for those new to the community.

The Welcome Game acknowledges the contribution diverse communities have made to our game for generations and introduces hundreds of new Australians to our great game.

Sunday’s game will recognise and celebrate our cultural diversity with activities and performances across the day.

Getting There and Access

Fans are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.

Trains run regularly to Olympic Park from Lidcombe; the stadium is a short walk from the station.

When catching public transport, plan ahead, allow extra time and sit or stand on the green dots. You can also check real-time capacity indicators when planning your trip or boarding services.

Remember it’s mandatory to wear a face mask on public transport and you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device. Register your details online at Opal or via the app ahead of time.

If you’re driving, travel with your group and pre-book your parking online (available until 11:59pm the night before the event). Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the precinct so allow extra travel time. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

Additional measures and staff will be in place around Sydney Olympic Park to safely manage crowds arriving and leaving the game so please be patient, practise physical distancing while in queues and follow the directions of staff on site.
