Emerging star Isaac Cumming has put pen to paper and added another two years to his contract, tying him to the GIANTS until the end of 2024.

Pick 20 in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft, the Broken Hill product has gone from strength to strength to become an important cog in the GIANTS’ backline.

The Academy graduate has played 38 games since debuting in 2018, including all 24 last season, finishing equal-sixth in the 2021 Kevin Sheedy Medal.

After 29 disposals against Fremantle last weekend, the young defender has continued his strong form into 2022.

“I’m really excited to have extended my contract,” Cumming said.

“Since the day I walked in here I’ve absolutely loved it, and after a few years I think I’ve really started to find my feet as a player and as a person.

“The contract was something that I knew was coming at the end of the year, and to put it simply I’m very happy where I am at the moment, so it was a no brainer for me to get the deal done now.

“I’m absolutely in love with the place and the people, and couldn’t be happier to be calling the GIANTS home for another two years.”

Coming into his second season at the GIANTS, hard-running wingman Ryan Angwin has also re-signed through to the end of 2024.

The left-footed midfielder was picked at selection 18 in the 2020 NAB AFL Draft and spent his first season developing in the GIANTS’ VFL side where he averaged 15 disposals over nine games.

An elite endurance athlete who is creative with the ball in hand, Angwin is looking to break through for his AFL debut in 2022.

GIANTS General Manager of Football Jason McCartney said he was pleased to secure the duo beyond this year.

“We’re really excited to be able to lock down two really talented young players for another two years,” he said.

“Isaac is a homegrown talent and an important part of our side and it’s been great to see his journey over the past few years.

“He’s already had a really strong start to 2022 after taking on a bigger role for us last season, and we’re really looking forward to seeing what else he can produce in the future.

“Ryan is another one who we’re pleased to have locked in. His hard work and dedication have seen him continue to improve in both wing and midfield roles since joining the club as he gets closer and closer to an AFL debut.

“We’re excited about what the coming years hold for both Isaac and Ryan.”
