The defensive efforts of Nick Haynes and Phil Davis in the GIANTS’ nail-biting one point win over Port Adelaide didn’t go unnoticed.

The duo has been named in the AFL.com.au Team of the Week at centre half-back and full back respectively and polled votes in the Shadforth AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.

GIANTS co-captain Davis, who took a game-high 13 marks and collected 17 disposals, polled seven votes for his impressive display down back, while Haynes polled five votes. 

Haynes was particularly impressive in the final quarter as the GIANTS held off a fast-finishing Power, finishing the game with 10 marks and 21 disposals. 

Forward Jeremy Finlayson – who now sits equal 9th in the Coleman Medal race with 34 goals in 2019 – polled three votes for his three-goal effort on Saturday night. 

Finlayson gathered 14 disposals, took five marks and created one goal assist.

Fellow forward Jeremy Cameron – who extended his lead on the Coleman to nine goals – polled a single vote after also booting three goals and collecting 15 disposals in the the GIANTS’ narrow win.
