A standout product of the GIANTS Academy and the 2024 GIANTS Academy Player of the Year, Smith joined the club via the 2024 Draft after being touted as one of the top two underage ruckmen in the country following a breakout season. Hailing from Canberra, Smith is a is a mobile ruckman whose weapons lie in his craft around stoppages and ability to put the ball to his teammates’ advantage. He was named in the under 18 All-Australian side in 2024 after averaging 10.5 disposals (seven contested) and 21.5 hitouts for the Allies at the National Championships. Alongside his impressive underage form, Smith showcased his talent at VFL level in 2024, featuring in seven games for the GIANTS' VFL side, including a standout performance in round 13 where he registered 19 disposals and five marks against the Swans. Smith also played a key role in winning an AFL Canberra First Grade premiership with Queanbeyan in 2024. After an injury-interrupted start to his AFL career, Smith managed to play out the second half of the 2025 season in the VFL where he consistently made an impact to show he’s got all the tools to make it at the elite level. Smith will be looking to make his AFL debut in 2026.
