One of the league’s most exciting young players, Callaghan asserted himself as a bonafide star of the competition with an eye-catching 2025 season. A powerful runner blessed with a silky left foot, Callaghan was selected by the GIANTS with the number three pick in the 2021 Draft after dominant performances with the Sandringham Dragons. Making his AFL debut in round five of the 2022 season, Callaghan was quick to show his promise and in 2023 took out the club’s Rising Star Award. The speedy midfielder continued his development throughout 2024 where he upped his disposals to 23 per game to solidify himself as a key piece of the GIANTS’ midfield despite his young age. Already one of the league’s most promising youngsters, Callaghan cemented his standing as one of the AFL’s elite in 2025, starring for the GIANTS across the season to be recognised with his first All-Australian squad selection and a runner-up finish in the Kevin Sheedy Medal. The young gun’s brilliant 2025 campaign saw him finish inside the AFL’s top 10 for disposals at an average of 28.4 per game to go along with 5.8 inside 50s, 4.2 clearances, and 582 metres gained.
